Vice President / Broker Associate
Times like these ask the most of us
to be fearless, courageous, open-hearted.
Times like these ask us to be innovative,
persistent, creative and true to ourselves.
Times like these ask us to do whatever
it takes to be of service to buyers,
sellers and fellow real estate brokers.
In these times, this is the spirit that inspires me!
Penney January, 2009
As the real estate market began to turn in 2008, I wrote these words to focus my own actions, my own business in a very challenging time. Little did I know how true my mantra is and always will be.
As we look to this selling season, the market shows signs of improvement, creating optimism for buyers and sellers. My listings span the Roaring Fork Valley from Aspen to Aspen Glen and reflect a wide price range in homes, vacant land and condominiums ... Penneys Portfolio of Properties.
Ever since 1976, real estate has provided the opportunity for me to meet many wonderful people
people who live, work, visit and play in our valley. These relationships are the foundation of my business and I am forever grateful.
My personal roots are in Aspen as my grandmother was born here and my parents owned a ranch in Carbondale. My husband, Dennis is a real estate entrepreneur (Carruth Properties) who is on the cutting edge for change. Our blended family of five is our pride and joy. Thos is an anesthesiologist in Vail, married to Sima who works in real estate for the Ritz Carlton. Kara lives in Olympia, WA with her husband, Carl and daughter, Cecilia. Kara works for Choice Regional Health Network
a consortium of health organizations and Carl is completing his Masters in environmental science and works for a Sustainable Prisons Project. Allison and Barron (our some-day-son-in-law) commute between Oregon and San Francisco where Barron has his own up-and-coming marketing company. Allison is a Professor at University of Oregon, teaching and publishing on such topics as environmental literature and media, modernist and postmodern culture, and globalization theory. Ryan is an Assistant Soccer Coach for a program in San Diego
1100 kids! He keeps it together by surfing daily. Ashley is at Stanford for a Masters Degree in education policy after having spent two incredible years in Aspen/Basalt
teaching, hanging out with friends and exploring every outdoor adventure she could.
My community involvement ranges from President of the Aspen Valley Ski/Snowboard Club to Mayoral candidate for the City of Aspen
from chairman of the Financial Advisory Board for Pitkin County to community Board Member of Wells Fargo to member of the Business Advisory Board at the University of Wyoming. I have also served as two-term President of the Aspen Board of Realtors and was Realtor of the Year in 1999. In my free time, I hangout with family and friends
and practice yoga, hike, and ski.
