Ryan Jennings and Kevin Cooper on their climb

Johnson alongside his climbing partner Kevin Cooper back in May of 2014. The two have recently been acknowledged in a full-length article in Alpinist Magazine, as well as received the Mugs Stump Award and the Golden Piton Alpine Award for their climb.
Jennings and Cooper established a new route, referred to as Stairway to Heaven, onthe direct north face of Mt. Johnson in the Ruth Gorge, Alaska. Completing this climb was the culmination of a near 20-year dream for both of these experienced climbers. The climb took 81 hours and was completed over May 1-4, 2014.
