Current Weather Conditions on the Mountain

Even though it's relatively early in the season, it's already clear that snow sports enthusiasts can count on an abundance of pristine powder at Aspen Snowmass this year. El Nino is expected to hit the American West hard this year, bringing record precipitation levels to the Rocky Mountains. With 85 runs already open at Aspen Snowmass, Aspen ski conditions are off to an excellent start.

Winter temperatures are currently hovering right around 30 degrees Fahrenheit at Snowmass. The five-day forecast calls for a couple of days of clear, sunny weather followed by a drop in temperature that is expected to bring up to eight inches of fresh snow. The long range forecast hints at a winter wonderland perfect for enjoying the holiday season, with cold, crisp days providing ultimate outdoor experiences along with snowy evenings ideal for relaxing in front of the fire with family and friends.

Snowmass Mountain is one of four alpine mountains included in the area served by Aspen Skiing Company. Snowmass ski conditions offer incredible experiences for beginners and plenty of opportunities for cross country skiers, while snowboarders and downhill enthusiasts will enjoy the expert-level terrain of the Burnt Mountain Glades, the Cirque, and the High Alpine Trail.

Visibility in high-alpine environments is almost always good during winter except when blizzard conditions exist, but no one seems to mind that because heavy snowfalls bring fresh, pristine powder. Popular trails include Adam's Avenue, Magic Carpet, Two Creeks, and Cascade.
