The end of ski season is approaching, but theres still time left to enjoy the slopes. Snowmass Mountain stays open until April 10, while Aspen Mountain is open through April 17 for skiing. These are the current conditions for these ski areas.
Aspen Mountain As of March 16, conditions on Aspen Mountain are favorable for skiing. The mountain got 6 inches of new snow and is expected to get more this week. Temperatures will be in the upper 20s, while winds are coming from the west and northwest at 10 to 20 mph.
Six of the mountains eight lifts are open, while all 76 trails are available for those who want to hit the slopes. Take note that terrain for beginners is not open, but 100 percent of the terrain for intermediate, advanced and expert skiers is open.
Snowmass Mountain As of March 16, conditions on Snowmass Mountain are good for skiing. More snow is expected to hit the mountain, while roughly 18 inches of snow have fallen in the past week. Temperatures in the area should be getting up to the upper 30s and low 40s, but will be noticeably cooler at the top of the mountain.
Eighteen of the mountains 20 lifts are open, and all 91 trails are available for skiing. One-hundred percent of the terrain is open for beginners, intermediate, advanced and expert skiers. Note that there is an avalanche advisory in place for part of the greater Snowmass ski area.
