Hiking in Aspen is a cultural experience, not just a daily exercise. The community bonds through its well-kept trails, and there are tiered hikes for every age group. Here are some of the great hikes in Aspen that are good for the entire family.
The Rio Grande Trail
If you have members of your family who enjoy biking as well as hiking, then the Rio Grande Trail is for you. The Puppy Smith Road post office marks the beginning of the trail, and the first two miles are paved to give you a good starting point. After that, the trail becomes dirt, but it is still considered an easy trail that the entire family can enjoy.
The Hunter Creek Trail
Another relatively easy trail that you can take young kids on, the Hunter Creek Trail starts next to the Lone Pine Road apartments. The trail is a gradual incline, so it is great for exercise. The elevation is slightly higher than the Rio Grande Trail.
The Smuggler Trail
When youareready for a slight uptick in difficulty, take on the Smuggler Trail starting from Smuggler Mountain Road. This road is one of the busier and more popular trails, and you can even bring your dog along to enjoy the beautiful scenery and get some exercise!
