25th Annual Ducky Derby Set for August 13

Are you ready? Its time to get quacking!

Saturday, August 13, marks the date of Aspen's 25th Annual Ducky Derby, organized by the Aspen Rotary Club. The feathers start flying at 10 AM,culminating in an adorable Duck Drop at precisely 2:10, when 30,000 yellow rubber ducks will be released into the wild from a giant chute into the Roaring Fork River. The fun happens at picturesque Rio Grande Park. Be prepared to have your heart touched as adults and children alike cheer for their duck to win the race to the finish line.

The Annual Ducky Derby is the Aspen Rotary Clubs single fundraising event each year. Individuals, families, and companies adoptsingle ducks or entire flocks of ducks. Youth groups selling ducksinclude the Aspen Sister Cities Exchange, the Silver City Gymnastics team, and the Aspen Junior Hockey team, plus many more. Aspen area companies, including Coldwell Banker Mason Morse, pitch in asevent sponsors. The money raised is used to help pay for local youth groups, scholarships for Aspen high school students, and even international aid projects.

We're proud to be a Bronze level sponsor of this event. There's still time to donate your supportbefore the ducks drop. You canadopt a solo swimmer for $10, a "quack pack"for $100, or a "full paddling" flotilla for $500. The duck that places first at the finish line wins a grand prize of $10,000 for its donor.
